Review: ‘Conceiving Heroic Christianity in Early Medieval England’ by David G. Pedersen

My review of David G. Pedersen’s book Conceiving Heroic Christianity in Early Medieval England (De Gruyter, 2026) has just been published online in the journal Irish Theological Quarterly (it will appear later in the journal’s print edition). This is a very interesting books that explores key works of Old English poetry as expressions of a distinctive Anglo-Saxon approach to Christianity: specifically, the Anglo-Saxon attempt to meld an authentically Christian outlook with the older Germanic concept of wyrd.
