First Element in Folklore published by Cambridge University Press

Today sees the online publication of the first Element in Elements in Folklore, the new series for Cambridge University Press that I edit along with Dr Tabitha Stanmore. The first Element in the series, entitled What Did Folklore Do? The Social Functions of Tradition is (fittingly) by Jeremy Harte, who was recently elected President of the Folklore Society. Elements in Folklore aims to publish short ‘minigraphs’ (of up to 30,000 words) on all aspects of folklore – we are actively looking for proposals, so if you are interested in writing one please do get in touch!
