Talking St Edmund on BBC Radio 4

This morning I made my second appearance on BBC Radio 4 (this time on the Sunday programme) to discuss my new book Edmund: In Search of England’s Lost King with Edward Stourton (listen here from 05:59). I spoke about who Edmund was and the prospects for finding his remains, including the new evidence I have brought to light about the burial of Edmund’s body in 1539. The interview also covered the issue of Edmund’s patronage of England; I explained how St George gradually supplanted Edmund as England’s national patron and argued that now is an opportune time to rediscover Edmund as a patron saint.
