This afternoon I was a guest on BBC Radio 4’s ‘Making History‘ with Tom Holland (although the recording actually took place on Friday in Brighton). The theme of this week’s programme was kings and martyrs, so naturally I was speaking about my latest paper on St Edmund in popular memory after the Reformation, alongside Dr Charles Insley and Dr Ryan Lavelle on a nearly-king of the ninth and tenth century, Aethelwold, and Dr Emilie Murphy on the theatricality of early modern Catholic martyrdoms at Tyburn. You can listen to the programme for 6 days after the original broadcast on BBC iPlayer here.
