My short story ‘Sieidi’ has just been published in the Spring 2026 edition of Plough Quarterly. This represents a rare excursion into fiction for me; without giving away too much, the story (set in Norway in the 1970s) is about the relationship between Christianity and the pre-Christian religion of the Sámi people, as well as Norway’s relationship with its Sámi population. The story deals with themes of restitution, acculturation and the supernatural – and much else besides.
