My father Alan Young’s novel Sea-Drift: A Life of Frederick Delius was published in January 2023, and was the first novel to fictionalise the life of the Bradford-born composer. The Delius Society subsequently commissioned a documentary film, directed by Christian Horsnell, about the novel and my father’s decades of research into the composer’s life. In the film I act as the interviewer, as well as reading some of the dramatised extracts from the novel.

The documentary was filmed in the beautiful surroundings of Culford School, where my father taught for 29 years, and it is now available to watch on YouTube.
