I recently appeared on the ‘Wide Atlantic Weird’ podcast to talk about the subject of ‘pagan survivals’ – or, rather, the myth that such the survival of elements of pagan religion into Christian societies was common. Among other things, the episode tackles the claim that churches are often built on pre-Christian sacred sites, the Green Man, and fairies as degenerated gods – as well as featuring my rant against the idea that UFOs and extraterrestrials are modern iterations of the fairy theme.
