East Anglian Catholic History Society AGM 2017

Yesterday afternoon the second annual general meeting of the East Anglian Catholic History Society (of which I am Secretary) took place in the chapel of St Margaret and the Immaculate Conception at Oxburgh Hall, by kind permission of Sir Henry and Lady Bedingfeld. The meeting was chaired by the Rev. Prof. John Morrill, Chairman of the Society, and we were honoured by the attendance of our Patron, the Rt Rev. Alan Hopes, Bishop of East Anglia, the bishop emeritus of Lismore, the Rt Rev. Geoffrey Jarrett, as well as the titular abbot of Glastonbury, the Rt Rev. Charles Fitzgerald-Lombard. The six current members of the committee were re-elected for another year, and Prof. Morrill and I were re-elected as Chairman and Secretary. After the AGM Dr John Ashdown-Hill MBE, one of the discoverers of the body of King Richard III, delivered a fascinating lecture on royal patronage of the shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham in the fifteenth-century. The lecture was filmed by Catholic television network EWTN.
